Physical Cinema Festival
The PCF program is a combination of creative works of short films, visual arts, installations, live performance art, sound compositions and live music cinema, together in an exciting mix.
Each festival is curated in a different unique way. The works are innovative and refreshing in their approach. Some films have un- and conventional storylines, some are abstract, and other installations deconstruct or render a poetic experience of time and space.
Spaces.
The selected program each year is screened at cinemas like Bio Paradís Reykjavík, installations in-door and out-door projections around Reykjavik city center including places like the Reykjavík City Hall, Tjarnarbíó, 12tonar and Reykjavík District Courthouse.
Celebrating the creativity in the field of short film and video.
The works are created by well known film- and video artists around the world. Majority of the program has never been screened in Iceland, local premiers and PCF collaborative works like CAB Creative Air Bridge, an innovative PCF program between International film artists and local music scene.
Importance of collaboration.
Since the start of the festival in 2019 Physical Cinema Festival has been in collaboration with local-, international festivals and artists regarding the program selection, including the Icelandic Film Museum where we will screen hidden treasures. And each year different collaborations with independent venues in the visual arts and the music scene, live film concerts and other happenings during the festival. PCF proudly extends its program throughout the year to other collaborators like local art-, cinema- and dance festivals around Iceland and internationally extending the program to other festivals and venues. In this way we distribute artists' works in collaboration with artists, outside of the Physical Cinema Festival dates.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Physical cinema Festival is a non-profit organization run by Helena Jonsdottir, befriended artists, friends and other supporters who work together voluntarily. This is gratefully done under the umbrella of Stockfish Film Festival and Bio Paradis - "The Home of Cinema"
Stockfish Film Festival in Reykjavík is the film industry’s festival in Iceland. The festival creates a platform in Reykjavík to encourage collaboration between domestic and international film communities and offers the audience an opportunity to see some of the most up-and-coming art-house films in the world. The festival takes place in March every year. It will be held in collaboration with Bíó Paradís (the main venue), Icelandic Film Centre and the film professional associations in Iceland; the film director’s guild of Iceland, association of Icelandic Film Producers, society of Women In Film and Television (WIFT), Icelandic Actors Guild, the Icelandic Cinematographers Society and the Icelandic Dramatists’ Union.
