TWO ICELANDIC SHORTS at the
MOVIN CANNES FESTIVAL

We are proud to announce for the first time a selection of 18 short films will be screened
for the public at the Cannes Cineum before a jury of film and dance industry professionals.
9 International Screen dance festivals selected one film each from their festival program,
the other half of the films in the competition in Cannes were selected from open call by the Moving Cannes.
The Physical Cinema Festival Reykjavík selected the work VESTDALSFOSS by
Helgi Örn Pétursson. Vestdalsfoss was screened at the last edition Physical
Cinema Festival curated by the festival director Helena Jonsdottir. The second film
SJOPPA – TOGETHER by Ísak Hinriksson where selected from the open call.
Sjoppa Together just premiered this autumn in Iceland. We are honored to have two
Icelandic films among the 18 selected works.
Representatives from each festival partner and the selected film makers will be attending the ceremony.

Short synopsis
19th century Romantic in the body of a 21st century dancer”, Helgi Örn Pétursson is a an artist ofcoincidence, pure chance and happy accidents. Being fascinated by the mysterious and absurdaspects of human existence he strives to strengthen his connection with his intuition, his consciousand unconscious emotions. In Vestdalsfoss he appears dressed in black dancing on a woodenplatform in front of a waterfall.
His dance is like an automatic writing.
