A MOMENT IN LOVE 1956
9,06 | Shirley Clarke & Anna Sokolow

Born in New York City, Shirley Clarke began her career as a dancer and later transition into filmmaking evincing choreographic sensibility through her camerawork and editing. Her experimentation with the form can be seen in A Moment in Love, as Clarke makes careful use of gently moving overlays and powerfully hued cels to add an extra layer of meaning and emotion to a duet choreographed by Anna Sokolov. In doing so, Clarke draws out both dream-states of early love and fractured moments of tension, expanding the nascent toolbox of screen Choreography.
