EN GARDE

Puzzle Muteson is the alter ego of an enigmatic songwriter from the Isle of Wight, rendering his music in a tremulous tenor over a finely spun web of fingerpicked guitar. Born in London, Isle of Dogs, the southern English island provided unexpected shelter for the shuddering transformation into one-man band Puzzle Muteson. His grade-school music teacher was first to recognize his unrivaled vibrato, and a little while later a parade of chance and coincidence led him to inhabit Puzzle Muteson, and start shaping a body of songs.
Puzzle has since toured Ireland and the U.K., opening up for the likes of The Fruit Bats, Death Vessel and Sub Pop darling Daniel Martin Moore. After obsessively listening to Puzzle Muteson’s own raw tapes, producer-arranger duo Valgeir Sigurðsson and Nico Muhly nurtured the songs that now inhabit his debut recording En Garde (2011), released via Valgeir’s Bedroom Community label. The record shimmers with the signature value of Puzzle’s collaborators who have previously worked with the likes of Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Antony Haggerty (of Antony & the Johnsons), Sam Amidon and many others. In 2014, he released the critically acclaimed Theatrics, where melodies are interwined with mechanism; the album is as much a folk song fairytale as it is an exploration of electronic wonders. In 2018, Puzzle Muteson published his last work called Swum, for Bedroom Community. With a 20 million spotify plays and still riding the train.
Lauren Edward POST-IDENTITYLAUREN-EDWARD is a woman we created. She was born when two artists started making work and ideas. She produces films - independent, art-house. She also started a production company bearing her name. This site has some of her work. The collaboration of Andrea Sisson & Pete Ohs under the moniker "Lauren-Edward" lasted from approximately 2010-2015. The duo made two feature-films, several short films, and additional narrative-based projects during that time, their second feature premiering in 2017. The first fully involved collaboration was the hybrid-documentary, "I Send You This Place", filmed by way of a Fulbright Fellowship. The film garnered a NY-Times Review and the two directors/creators were named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s "25 New Faces of Independent Film" for 2013. They were also invited to the IFP Emerging Storytellers market with their next film project. The next large-scale collaboration is the art-house sci-fi, "Everything Beautiful is Far Away" starring Julia Garner (Ozarks, Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Americans) & Joseph Cross (Big Little Lies, Running with Scissors) - was written & directed by Ohs, co-directed & designed by Sisson, and produced by the two. It premiered at the 2017 Los Angeles Film Festival winning the U.S. Cinematography Award, with its international Premiere at the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland. Lauren-Edward is "method filmmaking" & runs productions as such. They are also directly involved in production, distribution, and sales of their films. The name now exists as a production company name and place holder for re-founded collaborations. Both founders work individually in their fields.
